click here to read an interview with Greg on Panasonic's High Definition. Statement from Greg When I'm behind the camera or even just looking upon the set, I'm always envisioning the way a scene will look in my mind. How the light will read on some ones face or how the light will fall on the background. Every location has something to offer. My job is to figure out a way to find it and bring it to life. Cinematography really allows me to be creative and that is something I enjoy. Most recently this passion has brought me toward movie making. Having the freedom to play a scene for a minute or two can really keep you on your game. You are constantly watching for unwanted objects in your frame, shadows, light cues, actor marks, focus, framing ect. It's a challenge that really tests your abilities and I love it. Beyond
film as a format, I am very involved in is HD Cinematography. This
has been something I really have been focusing on since 2004. I decided
to embrace the technology and really try to experiment and create
another good product, just as I would do with film. I still approach
HD in the same way I would with film, but I do have to refer to the
monitor more than I would like. I'm working on understanding how an
HD camera would read the scene without ever really having to look
at the monitor.
